Work-life balance is a pretty hot topic in today’s day and age. Living through mobile devices makes it much easier to blur home and work life together. This lack of separation is costing us both personally and professionally.

  • 70% of employees are not engaged at work.

  • Turnover is higher than ever at 46%. Nearly half your workforce will leave for another job in the first year.

  • Employees who aren’t “thriving” have a 35% chance higher of leaving that first year.

  • Life is so overwhelming and stressful, we’re even walking faster – especially those of us living in big cities.

Getting enough sleep, taking time off/relaxing and spending enough time with family and friends are high up on the chart of what’s stressing people out so much.

Sounds like a pretty poor case of work-life balance around the world. Not only are we missing life’s most important moments, we’re making a lot more mistakes – 91% of all workplace accidents occur due to human error. The pace of life is even changing our brains because we only have time for bite-sized learning rather than delving deep. Everything must fit in 140 characters or less.

Because of these stressors, more people are turning towards mindfulness training to help with the demands of modern day life. Sure, you may not be able to entirely stop checking work emails on your time off. But learning to take mini breaks during a hectic work day can do wonders for your employee’s brains and their performance. This applies for stressful personal situations as well.
