Our Innovative Program
Rethink Autism’s unique curriculum and training modules are based on more than thirty years of published research demonstrating that the most effective interventions for individuals with autism are those based on the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA).
Our curriculum puts science and experience on your side, bridging the gap that separates your child from state-of-the-art research by providing you with a portal into the world of effective instruction. Our informative tutorials, detailed descriptions of teaching techniques, and dynamic video presentations will teach you how to teach your child fundamental skills such as making eye contact, requesting items, answering questions, and following directions. As your child progresses, our curriculum will guide you to increasingly advanced programs, such as joining play with other children, engaging in conversation, and understanding the emotions of others.
Our Comprehensive Curriculum
Rethink Autism’s curriculum and teaching modules have been developed by a caring and committed team of trained clinicians and behavior analysts with years of experience in developing and overseeing ABA-based teaching programs for children with autism. The curriculum uses both an easy to follow assessment and developmental guidelines to set your child’s individual program objectives. Click here to see the curriculum’s Developmental Milestones.
Each carefully designed lesson breaks down complex skills into simple, easy-to-follow teaching steps. Each lesson is accompanied by a dynamic video demonstrating just how to teach each step, and every video is accompanied by an easy-to-follow written description of the teaching procedure. These supportive elements will help you troubleshoot difficult programs and adapt each lesson to your child’s individual needs, so that his or her learning will be maximized.
Our Dynamic Teaching Videos
Rethink Autism’s instructional videos portray actual teaching sessions in which trained therapists and teachers work with children with autism. In addition to demonstrating effective instruction, our videos will show you how to create playful, positive teaching experiences that both you and your child will look forward to.
Our Program Builds Confidence -- Your Child's Confidence, and Yours
Rethink Autism recognizes that teaching children with autism day in and day out can be challenging. Our step-by-step teaching videos will help you tackle that challenge by breaking complex lessons down into easy-to-follow steps, bringing complex skills within your reach and your child’s reach. We will show you how to present instructions and guide responses, as well as, how to praise and encourage. The skills our program offers, will allow you to be positive and proactive as you help your child to learn.
Our Program Recognizes Your Child's Individuality
Rethink Autism’s state-of-the-art, web-based curriculum will help you assess your child’s strengths and challenges, and will recommend a custom curriculum for you to follow. We also provide strategies to help you adapt each lesson to your child’s individual abilities, and tools to modify and individualize your child’s personal program goals. As you move through the curriculum, our data collection program will track your child’s progress and adjust program goals and lesson plans in light of his performance.
Our Program Encourages Learning During Daily Activities
Rethink Autism understands that the more your child practices a new skill in the real world, the better. Our teaching demonstrations and “helpful hints” will give you innovative ideas for practicing skills beyond the classroom.
